Free options

Free virtual staging, and where the limits usually sit.

Free staging tiers are real, but they trade in resolution, watermarks, style range, or usage rights. Know which trade you are making.

The problem

“Free” usually means a preview, not a usable file.

Most free staging tiers return a low-resolution or watermarked preview that is unusable on a portal, and the full file arrives only after payment. That is a fair business model, but it is worth knowing before you invest an evening in it.

Our method

Three real credits, then decide.

A confirmed ListPik account starts with three credits. Each one stages a room and returns the full-resolution file, so you can publish the result or walk away. There is no promotional watermark and no resolution limit on the free tier. The only mark is the virtually-staged disclosure label, which is on by default and can be switched off before you run the job.

Truth boundaryThe disclosure label is not a paywall watermark and behaves identically on free and paid credits. It is on by default because portal and MLS rules generally require staging to be disclosed, and it can be turned off when you need a clean file.

What the free tier is usually paying for

Free staging tiers are a customer acquisition cost, and vendors recover it in one of a few ways: a reduced resolution that cannot be published, a promotional watermark across the image, a narrow style range, restricted usage rights, or a card requirement that converts to a subscription. None of these are dishonest, but they determine whether an evening spent on the free tier produces a usable file or a preview.

The question worth asking before starting is what specifically is withheld. If it is resolution or a watermark, the free tier is a demonstration. If the full file is delivered, the free tier is a trial of the actual product.

The label is not a watermark

ListPik burns a virtually-staged disclosure label into staged results by default, on free and paid credits alike. This is easy to mistake for a promotional watermark and it is a different thing: it exists because portal and MLS rules generally require staging to be disclosed, and it can be switched off before running the job when a listing needs a clean file.

What does not switch off is the disclosure duty. If you turn the label off, the listing text has to identify the photograph as virtually staged instead.

  • Check whether the free tier returns full resolution or a preview
  • Confirm whether commercial listing rights are included
  • Check whether a card is required and what it converts to
  • Keep the unstaged original whichever tier you use

Where it fits

Use enhancement when the photograph is the problem.

01

The room is empty or barely furnished

There is no sofa, bed, or table in frame to give a viewer a sense of scale or function.

02

The property itself is fine

Walls, floors, windows, and condition are all presentable. What is missing is furniture, not repair.

03

You will disclose the staging

The listing will identify the photos as virtually staged, and the label on each result will travel with the file.

A three-part desk

Fast enough for the deadline. Deliberate enough for the listing.

  1. 01

    Upload the original

Use the largest source file and choose an interior or exterior finishing direction.

  2. 02

    Review the evidence

Inspect the result beside the source. The property should remain immediately recognizable.

  3. 03

    Export with context

Download the approved image and follow the disclosure rules that apply to your listing.

Before you publish

  • Confirm the downloaded file is full resolution and publishable.
  • Check no promotional watermark is present on the exported image.
  • Verify commercial listing rights cover the platform you are publishing to.
  • Confirm the staging is disclosed by the label, the listing text, or both.

Specific answers

What to know before processing.

Do I need a credit card for the free credits?+

No. Confirming an account is enough, and the three credits work on staging or enhancement.

Are the free results watermarked?+

There is no promotional watermark and the resolution is not reduced. Free credits produce exactly the same output as paid ones, including the optional virtually-staged label.

What happens after three credits?+

You buy a one-time credit pack or an optional monthly plan. Unused credits do not expire.
